Critical commentary by Alessandra Santin:
Still life has a long history; as a genre in itself, over time it has been a source of different types of inspiration and expression of the poetics of everyday life. Sonego devotes herself almost entirely to it, representing objects and spaces within domestic interiors, the everyday things of reality or what remains as a memory of her childhood. Her paintings do not simply aim to make this reality tangible or close, but rather seek to freely express the "beauty of presence" through the use of personal contacts and exclusive points of view. With a nod to abstraction and imaginative re-elaboration, the artist allows herself to intimately approach objects, to perceive and render them as she feels them, reworking concrete forms, colors, positions, without ever running the risk of breaking the unity of space. The atmosphere, rhythm, shades, and weight of volumes restore harmonies and silences that induce reflection on the sense of time and the encounter with pause and inner dialogue, which today is increasingly urgent and necessary."
